4,4,4-Trifluoro-2-buten-1-ol is a compound that is used in organic synthesis. It is a chiral molecule with two stereocenters and can be synthesized by refluxing the corresponding alcohols with sodium bisulfite. 4,4,4-Trifluoro-2-buten-1-ol has been shown to inhibit amyloid fibrils formation and population shift in vitro. The fluorescence of 4,4,4-trifluoro-2-buten-1-ol shifts to longer wavelengths upon excitation and can be used as a strategy for detecting trifluoromethyl groups. This compound has also been shown to have high yields and good functional group compatibility.
