2,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropanoic acid is a synthetic compound that is used as an antitubercular drug. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with the biosynthesis of mycolic acids and arabinogalactan proteins in the cell wall. 2,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropanoic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes.
