L-Threonine is an amino acid that belongs to the branched-chain family of amino acids. It is a nonessential amino acid, meaning that it can be synthesized by the human body. L-Threonine is one of the two amino acids (along with L-Serine) that has a hydroxyl group on the alpha carbon atom.
