Beschreibung

Vestitol is a natural compound that belongs to the group of isoflavonoids. It has been found to be a potent inhibitor of the hydroxylation reaction in the biosynthesis of isoflavonoids, which is catalyzed by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Vestitol also inhibits the expression of genes encoding for proteins involved in energy metabolism, such as mitochondrial ATPase and protein kinases. This compound also has low potency against fungi such as Candida glabrata, which may be due to its hydroxyl group and chiral center. Vestitol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and is being investigated for use in treating alopecia areata. It also shows insecticidal activity against culex quinquefasciatus, an important vector of West Nile virus.
