Visnadine is a coumarin derivative that inhibits cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases, which are enzymes that break down the second messengers cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animal models and may be useful for the treatment of chronic cough. Visnadine has also been shown to inhibit 3t3-l1 preadipocytes from differentiating into adipocytes, suggesting potential use in treating obesity.
