Beschreibung:Waltonitone is a cytosolic calcium ionophore that has been shown to induce apoptosis in human osteosarcoma cells by activating the caspase-dependent mitochondrial pathway. Waltonitone also inhibits the proliferation of HL-60 cells, which are human promyelocytic leukemia cells, and stimulates apoptosis in these cells. The molecular mechanism of action of this drug is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to activate the pro-apoptotic protein Bax or downregulate the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2. Waltonitone is a natural compound that has minimal toxicity in animal studies and can be used as an anticancer agent for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and other cancers.
