Beschreibung:Xylenol Blue is a cationic surfactant that has been used as an antimicrobial agent in the treatment of analytical methods. It is also used as a polymerization initiator in the production of polyurethane plastics, and as a catalyst for organic synthesis. It is activated by radiation or hydrochloric acid, and catalyzes the reaction between cyclohexane rings and hydroxyl groups to form new molecules. This process occurs at a relatively slow rate, so it can be used in flow assays. Xylenol Blue is also applied to urine samples to detect the presence of glucose.
