Alphos is a fruit extract that contains psoralea. Psoralea is used as a specific treatment for congestive heart failure, hepatitis, and autoimmune diseases. It contains chemical substances that are structurally similar to the growth factor erythropoietin and has been shown to stimulate the production of protein in cells. Alphos has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. The hydrochloric acid in Alphos can act as a fumigant and help kill bacteria, including those that cause tuberculosis.
