Produktinformation
- Methyl 2-oxovalerate
- Pentanoic acid, 2-oxo-,methyl ester
Methyl 2-Oxovalerate is a chemical compound that is produced in the human body by oxidation of branched-chain amino acids. It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. Methyl 2-Oxovalerate is produced by dehydrogenation of isoprene, which is catalyzed by the enzyme acid dehydrogenase. This reaction produces a mixture of four different methyl 2-oxovalerates, each with a different degree of branching on the carbon chain. The biochemical pathways for this compound are found mainly in mitochondria and produce energy through aerobic respiration.
