Beschreibung

(+)-Xanthoplanine is a drug that inhibits the activity of acetylcholine receptors. It is most commonly used as an experimental treatment for Alzheimer's disease and inflammation response. (+)-Xanthoplanine has been found to be effective in reducing inflammation, which may be due to its ability to selectively inhibit nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This agent is also used as a research tool in pharmacokinetic studies, because it has low bioavailability and can be administered orally, intravenously, or intramuscularly. The drug is extracted from plants such as fructus eupatorii and contains (-)xanthopinone and other alkaloids. This compound is also obtained by recombinant human DNA technology.
