2-Sulfobenzoic acid ammonium salt is an inorganic compound that can be synthesized from chlorides, sulfur and ammonia. It has shown mutagenicity and the ability to interact with other anions. The two isomers of 2-sulfobenzoic acid ammonium salt are monomeric and polymerized. The monomeric form has been shown to be a sweetener, while the polymerized form is used in the production of polymers. 2-Sulfobenzoic acid ammonium salt is also used in the synthesis of pyrrole, which is a chemical intermediate for synthetic rubber. Impurities may arise during the manufacture of this compound due to its high boiling point.
