Beschreibung

(Z)-Hexadec-11-en-1-ol is a fatty acid that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on neuron cells. It inhibits the activity of odorant receptor cells, which are involved in the detection of odors and pheromones. The synthesis of (Z)-hexadec-11-en-1-ol in lepidoptera consists of two steps: first, it is synthesized from linoleic acid by a series of enzymatic reactions; second, it is converted into other compounds such as pheromones and fatty alcohols. The biosynthesis of (Z)-hexadec-11-en-1-ol in wheat germ has also been studied using spectrometry analyses. Wheat germ contains a high concentration of linoleic acid, which is converted into (Z)-hexadec-11-en-1-ol by enzymes.
