Beschreibung

Vesnarinone is a cardiac glycoside that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting viral replication. Vesnarinone has been shown to inhibit the molecular pathogenesis of congestive heart failure and also has an effect on energy metabolism, basic protein, and human serum. This drug binds to the cytosolic Ca2+ channel in the membrane of a cell and blocks its activation. This leads to a decrease in intracellular levels of Ca2+, which affects cellular processes such as protein synthesis and proliferation. Vesnarinone was shown to be effective in treating patients with carcinoma, human lymphocytes, and humans with congestive heart failure.
