Beschreibung

2-Chloro-3-methyl-4-(methylsulfonyl)benzoic acid is a white solid that is soluble in water and organic solvents. It is used as an oxidant for the production of acetic acid, ethylene diamine, and hydrogen peroxide. 2-Chloro-3-methyl-4-(methylsulfonyl)benzoic acid is also used to catalyze the transfer of chlorine from chlorosilanes to alcohols in the production of phenol and acetone. This compound has been shown to have carcinogenic effects on animals and should be handled with care.
