(+)-Erinacin A is a potent natural product with promising anticancer properties. It is an analog of Erinacine A, which was isolated from the mushroom Hericium erinaceus. (+)-Erinacin A has been shown to inhibit the activity of kinases, including protein kinase C and Akt, which play important roles in cell survival and proliferation. This inhibition leads to apoptosis or programmed cell death in cancer cells. Studies have shown that (+)-Erinacin A exhibits selective cytotoxicity against various human cancer cell lines, including breast and lung cancer cells. Additionally, it has been found to be a potent inhibitor of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell growth.
