4-{1H-Pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl}-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (4PP) is a dopamine D1 receptor agonist. It has been shown to inhibit signal pathways involving dopamine in the brain and to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases and metabolic disorders. 4PP is a cannabinoid derivative that exhibits locomotor activity in vivo. This drug binds to the cannabinoid receptor CB1 with high affinity but also displays selectivity for other targets such as the dopamine D1 receptor. The binding of 4PP with CB1 produces an increase in intracellular cAMP levels that lead to its antiproliferative effects on cancer cells. 4PP has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as an inhibitor of hepatic steatosis due to its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis by blocking the action of fatty acid synthase.
