Racemic-8,8'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-3,3',4,4'-tetrahydro-4,4,4',4',6,6'-hexamethyl-2,2'-spirobi (TBTPS) is a reaction product of diphosphine and amines. It is used in palladium complexes to form spiroketals. TBTPS has been shown to react with ethyne to form hydroxy groups. It can also be used as a kinetic marker for nucleophilic attack on Pd(II). TBTPS is a polymorphic compound that exists in two different forms: yellow and red. The yellow form is more stable than the red form and can be obtained by reacting the red form with sodium salts.
