Beschreibung

Chloromethyl phenyl sulfide is a reactive aliphatic hydrocarbon that is used as an organic solvent. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of endometriosis, a condition where uterine tissue grows outside the uterus. Chloromethyl phenyl sulfide may also have antibacterial properties. This compound is synthesized by reacting naphthalene with chloroform and sodium hydroxide in the presence of hydrochloric acid to produce chloride and nitro compounds. The asymmetric synthesis of this compound can be carried out using potassium tert-butoxide and sulfur dioxide.
