Beschreibung:Procaine is a local anesthetic that is used to block nerve conduction in the peripheral nervous system. Procaine is soluble in water, alcohol, and propylene glycol but insoluble in ether and chloroform. It is active at low concentrations and has long-lasting effects. In addition, procaine can be given by intramuscular injection or intravenously. It has been shown to be effective for the treatment of thromboses and as a preventive measure for people with heart disease who are prone to blood clots. Procaine also inhibits noradrenaline release from sympathetic nerve terminals and blocks the uptake of noradrenaline into sympathetic neurons at synapses.
