It is also used for the treatment of infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. This compound induces tyrosinase activity through an intramolecular hydrogen bond with the hydroxyl group, which causes the hydroxyl group to become nucleophilic and react with a chlorine atom in order to form an acid conjugate.
