• Beschreibung: 1-Phenyl-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-beta-carboline-3-carboxylic acid (1PC) is a potent inhibitor of HIV RNA polymerase that has been shown to be active against HIV in cell culture. 1PC is a ligand for the HIV transcriptase and binds to the enzyme's active site. 1PC prevents the formation of the RNA primer needed for transcription by binding to the primer binding site on the enzyme. The compound also inhibits nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, such as zidovudine and lamivudine.
