Triisopropylsilyl Acrylate is a monomer that is used in the production of polymers. It can be used as a conditioning agent for hair, skin, and nails. Triisopropylsilyl Acrylate has been shown to be an animal carcinogen with oral exposure. The carbonyl group on the triisopropylsilyl acrylate molecule reacts with chloride ions to form chlorocarboxylic acids which are then excreted in urine. It also reacts with blood pressure medications such as chlorthalidone and hydrochlorothiazide, increasing the risk of hypertension. Triisopropylsilyl Acrylate is also used in analytical chemistry and antifouling applications.
