• Beschreibung: Actinonin is a natural product with antimicrobial activity. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. Actinonin has been shown to inhibit the growth of gram-positive species such as Streptococcus pyogenes, group A beta-hemolytic streptococci, and Enterococcus faecalis. Actinonin also inhibits a number of enzymes including target enzymes for antimicrobial agents such as penicillin and erythromycin. Actinonin has been shown to be a potential biomarker for bowel disease in humans by its ability to bind to mitochondria in cells from patients with inflammatory bowel disease. This compound binds to basic proteins, which are found in high concentrations in the cell nucleus of organisms including humans.
