TMPA was able to increase the levels of copper, fatty acid, and zinc in bacteria such as E. coli K-12. TMPA is an acidic molecule with a pKa value of 3.8-4.0 which means it can bind with metal cations under acidic conditions; this property makes it useful in applications such as polymer films and monoclonal antibody production because these processes involve low pHs.
