Produktinformation
4-(Methylanilino)-4-oxobutanoic acid is a carboxylic acid with the molecular formula C8H11NO2. It is used in pharmaceuticals and as a chemical intermediate. This compound has two polymorphs, which are chemically distinct forms of the same molecule that have different crystal structures. The two polymorphs are called alpha and beta. Alpha occurs when the hydrogen bonds form between the molecules in a planar manner, while beta forms when the hydrogen bonds form diagonally to each other. The result is an intermolecular hydrogen bond network that can be seen by polarized light microscopy. 4-(Methylanilino)-4-oxobutanoic acid has been shown to form dimers through intermolecular hydrogen bonding with another molecule of 4-(Methylanilino)-4-oxobutanoic acid.
