Di-o-methylbergenin is a synthetic compound that inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme necessary for the production of melanin. It has been shown to inhibit tyrosinase activity and inhibit cell growth in culture. Di-o-methylbergenin also inhibits the synthesis of dopamine and serotonin, which may be due to its ability to inhibit amide bond formation.
