Beschreibung:5-Hydroxy-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (5HMPCA) is a potent inhibitor of matrix metalloproteases (MMPs). It has been shown to inhibit the activity of MMPs and thereby reduce inflammation, joint pain, and other symptoms of arthritis. The crystal structures of 5HMPCA bound to two different MMP isoforms have been determined by X-ray crystallography. These structures show that 5HMPCA binds to the catalytic site of these enzymes, inhibiting their function.
