3-(Dimethylamino)-1-(2-thienyl)propanone hydrochloride is a sulfoxide that is used as a solvent. It has been used in the synthesis of benzylsulfoxides and solvents for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. 3-(Dimethylamino)-1-(2-thienyl)propanone hydrochloride is also a potent compound, which is structurally similar to benzene but with an additional methyl group. 3-(Dimethylamino)-1-(2-thienyl)propanone hydrochloride has been used in the synthesis of melphalan and elemental analysis.
