Produktinformation
Warfarin is a drug that is used to treat and prevent blood clots. It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, which leads to an increased tendency for bleeding and bruising. Warfarin inhibits the activity of liver enzymes called p-450 isozymes, which are responsible for metabolizing drugs in the body. Drug interactions with warfarin may lead to an increase in its effects or side effects. Warfarin also has a high affinity for drug transporters, such as P-glycoprotein, which may lead to decreased plasma concentrations of other drugs. This drug has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in rat liver microsomes and stereoselectivity can be determined by acetate extract from human liver microsomes. The clinical relevance of this drug is that it may have therapeutic effects against cancer and cardiovascular disease.
