Beschreibung

(S)-AMPA is a neurotransmitter that functions as an excitatory amino acid. (S)-AMPA is synthesized from glutamate by the enzyme glutamate decarboxylase and binds to the AMPA receptor, which is a type of ionotropic glutamate receptor. These receptors are found at synapses and are responsible for synaptic plasticity. (S)-AMPA modulates neuronal activity by binding to these receptors, altering the flow of ions across the cell membrane. It has been shown that (S)-AMPA can induce synaptic plasticity and long-term potentiation in the hippocampus in rats.
