It has been approved for the treatment of pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other conditions. Piroxicam is available in tablets, capsules, injectable solutions, and topical creams. The pharmacokinetics of piroxicam have been studied using intravenous and oral administration in healthy volunteers. Tolerability and side effects are minimal with piroxicam.
