Beschreibung:Biperiden hydrochloride is a potent, centrally acting anticholinergic agent that has been used to treat Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders. Biperiden hydrochloride works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in the brain by inhibiting acetylcholine at the synapse. It also inhibits dopamine release and blocks postsynaptic dopamine receptors. Biperiden hydrochloride is used in vitro to study the effects of drugs on human serum and urine samples, as well as for diagnostic purposes in vivo. In vitro assays are also conducted to study the effect of drugs on locomotor activity and symptoms in animals. Biperiden hydrochloride can be combined with mianserin hydrochloride or fluorescein angiography to study the function of dopaminergic systems in vivo.
