Beschreibung

Tautomycin is a natural product from Streptomyces spiroverticillatus that has been shown to be effective in treating eye disorders. Tautomycin binds to the MCL-1 protein and inhibits its function, leading to cell death. The mode of action of tautomycin has been studied using a vitro method with HL-60 cells, which are human leukemic cells. Tautomycin inhibited the activity of ubiquitin ligases, which are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of ubiquitin to other proteins. The optimum concentration for tautomycin is 10 nM and it is active against K562 cells, but not against lysed erythrocytes. Tautomycin also dephosphorylates proteins by covalently modifying serine residues on proteins with phosphate groups.
