• Beschreibung: BRL 15572 is a 5-HT7 receptor agonist that is used to treat migraine, chronic pain, and other conditions. It has been shown to be effective in animal models of analgesia and as an antinociceptive agent. BRL 15572 binds to the 5-HT2A receptor and inhibits the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from the tegmental area in rats, which may be responsible for its antimigraine properties. The drug also reduces the production of serotonin in the brain by blocking 5-HT1 receptors. BRL 15572 has been shown to be effective against HIV infection, although it does not bind to HIV itself. The drug has a high affinity for 5-HT7 receptors and blocks the influx of calcium ions into cells, leading to reduced production of nitric oxide in neurons. This effect can be seen using optical imaging techniques when measuring changes in calcium concentrations within cells following exposure to BRL 15572.
