BAY U9773 is a transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) inhibitor that inhibits the activity of the transcription-polymerase chain. It binds to the enzyme, 2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate, and prevents it from binding to DNA. BAY U9773 is used for the treatment of bronchial asthma and other allergic disorders. It blocks the synthesis of metalloproteases, which are enzymes that break down collagen in the lungs and skin. BAY U9773 has been shown to decrease inflammatory reactions by inhibiting leukotriene receptor antagonists. The drug also stimulates hematopoietic cells and epidermal growth factor, which may be due to its ability to induce intracellular calcium concentration in these cells.
