CB[8] has been shown to bind to cyclic peptides and basic fibroblasts, exhibiting significant cytotoxicity. The binding of CB[8] to the peptide was found to be due to hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions, which led to low bioavailability in vivo. This complex has also been used as a fluorescent probe for titration calorimetry and fluorescence spectroscopy studies.
