It has been shown to cause malformations in rats and mice, as well as symptoms of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) activation. 6-Propylpiperidin-3-ol is not a major metabolite of acetylcholine, but it has been shown to be a specific antidote for death caused by 6-propylpiperidin-3-ol poisoning.
