• Beschreibung: Etazolate hydrochloride is a small molecule that inhibits the activity of cyclase, the enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of ATP to cAMP. Inhibition of cyclase prevents the activation of protein kinases and phosphatases, which are important for cellular signaling. Etazolate hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit neuronal death in a model system and may have potential as a treatment for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. Etazolate hydrochloride also inhibits bowel disease in mice by blocking the production of inflammatory molecules such as prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on leukemic mice by inhibiting cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDE).
