RP-54745 has also been shown to inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. It is thought that this inhibition may be due to the inhibition of the activity of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase. RP-54745 also inhibits scleral blood vessels, which may be used for treatment of eye diseases such as retinal tissue inflammation.
