Beschreibung

Verubecestat is an experimental drug that has been shown to reduce the production of amyloid-beta protein, one of the key proteins in Alzheimer's disease. Verubecestat acts by blocking the activity of beta-secretase 1 (BACE1), which is an enzyme that is involved in the production of amyloid-beta protein. The drug also inhibits acetylcholine release and neuronal death, thereby reducing neuronal dysfunction. Verubecestat has been shown to be well tolerated with no adverse effects seen in clinical trials. It is being studied for use as a symptomatic treatment for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. There are few side effects associated with this drug and it does not appear to cause any significant changes in laboratory values or blood counts.
