- 2-Amino-3-Nitrobenzoic Acid Ethyl Ester
- Ethyl 2-Amino-3-Nitro-Benzoate
2-Amino-3-nitro benzoic acid ethyl ester (2-ANBA) is a reassigned oxime that can react with primary amines to form stable imines. 2-ANBA can also react with hydroxylamine to form oximes. In the presence of indazoles, condensation occurs and heterocyclic compounds are formed. The equilibrium constant for this reaction is 1.5 at 25°C and pH 7.0. 2-ANBA is stable and thermolysis does not occur, but it undergoes an equilibrium reaction when heated in water at 100°C for 24 hours. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of tuberculosis as well as some cancers such as gastric cancer and leukaemia, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria or cancer cells respectively.
