Beschreibung

Oxo-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-acetic acid is an organic solvent. It is a Grignard reagent that is prepared by reacting magnesium with oxalic acid ethyl ester in the presence of benzene and benzotrifluoride. Oxo-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-acetic acid is used to extract phenylacetic acid from aqueous solutions, as well as for the preparation of diazomethane. It also reacts with hydrazine to form an intermediate that can be used to prepare various substituted carbonyl compounds.
