Beschreibung

Angiostatin is a potent inhibitor of new blood vessel growth, which is required for tumor growth. It is an inactive protein that has been modified to be active by attaching the enzyme thrombin to it. The immobilized Angiostatin molecule binds to calcium ions and inhibits the production of a protein that is required for cell division. This process can be used in cancer treatments to inhibit tumor growth. Porosity and molecular size are important factors when choosing an appropriate support material for immobilization.
