The drug also inhibits binding of acetylcholine to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and blocks voltage-gated sodium channels. Xylopropamine hydrobromide has been shown to interact with receptor proteins, such as the dopamine D2 receptor, serotonin 5HT3 receptor, and beta-adrenergic receptor.
