Beschreibung:Midazolam hydrochloride is a sedative and minor tranquilizer that has minimal toxicity. It is used for the induction of general anesthesia, as an adjunct to general anesthesia, and as preoperative medication. Midazolam hydrochloride is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, or orally. When administered intravenously, midazolam reaches peak levels in the blood within one minute and has a duration of action of one to two hours. Midazolam can be used with other drugs such as opiates and nitrous oxide to provide anesthesia. The chemical stability of midazolam in solutions is dependent on pH; it will not break down at physiologic pH levels (7.0-7.4).
