Beschreibung:1-Amino-1-deoxy-D-ribitol is a product of the enzymatic conversion of ribose to ribulose. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of other biologically important compounds, such as flavin and coenzyme A. 1-Amino-1-deoxy-D-ribitol can be stabilized with hydrochloric acid, acetylated into 1,2,3,4,-tetrahydroxybutane by acetic anhydride and metaperiodate. The bond cleavage reaction can be activated by hydrogen chloride or metaperiodate. High concentrations of these reagents are needed for this process to take place.
