• Beschreibung: Phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate is a potent inducer of protein kinase C (PKC) and is used as a tool to study PKC activity. It has been shown to induce the phosphorylation of certain proteins in human cells. This compound also induces the release of inflammatory mediators from polymorphonuclear leucocytes, which are white blood cells. Phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate is also used as a model system for studying the human papillary muscle and its biochemical properties. The effects of phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate on hl-60 cells have been studied extensively. This compound inhibits protein synthesis by preventing the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome and by inhibiting translocation of mRNA into the cytoplasm.
