Flumetralin is a herbicide that inhibits photosynthetic activity. It has been shown to affect the function of the mitochondria in plants, which are responsible for energy production. Flumetralin also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the cytochrome P450 enzyme, reducing its ability to catalyze reactions involving aromatic compounds. Flumetralin has been shown to have toxic effects on animals, including humans, and is classified as moderately toxic by oral and inhalation exposure routes. The detection sensitivity of flumetralin was found to be 3 ng/mL with an LC-MS/MS method.
