Oleonuezhenide, also known as ligustilide or ligustril, is a bioactive compound that is found in the fruit of ligustrum lucidum. It has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as promoting osteoblastogenesis and inhibiting glycosylation. The chemical structure of oleonuezhenide is a glucoside with an iridoid aglycone. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of bitter taste receptors on the tongue by binding to them, which may be due to its glucoside moiety. Oleonuezhenide is found in the fruit of ligustrum lucidum and was first isolated from this plant by ultrasonic extraction. The extract was then purified using column chromatography and RP-HPLC before being identified by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectroscopy.
