Beschreibung

Harpagoside is a natural compound that is isolated from the roots of Harpagophytum procumbens (Devil's Claw). It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme and also possesses radioprotective properties. This compound has been demonstrated to have a high affinity for DNA, which may be due to its ability to bind with growth factor-β1, a protein involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. Harpagoside has also been found to inhibit transcriptional regulation and chemoattractant protein production, suggesting that it may be useful for the treatment of chronic arthritis.
